Mattel’s wildly successful Ever After High doll line features the daughters of classic princesses and villains in well-known stories such as Goldielocks, Snow White, Cinderella, and more. Four of the characters have been nominated to Thronecoming Court: Raven Queen (daughter of the Evil Queen), C.A. Cupid (daughter of Eros), Blondie Locks (daughter of Goldielocks), and Apple White (daughter of Snow White). Kids ages 6 and up can vote for which doll will be elected Thronecoming Queen online at www.everafterhigh.com. The site features character bios, games and quizzes, polls, videos, furnishings, and more.

I think the most appealing part of the dolls is their extravagant outfits and eye-catching packaging. Raven Queen is my favorite, because she has a dark and mysterious look that includes dark purple hair with bits of shimmer, smokey eye makeup, a “spellbinding” collar, and a layered purple dress with black sparkly tulle. Her hair is long, which is perfect for styling and brushing. I also love her shoes, which are sky-high purple heels with silver studded fronts.

Apple White, C.A. Cupid, and Blondie Locks are clearly fierce competition, though. Apple’s gown is reminiscent of her mom’s with a black-and-red palette, gold patterned overlay and black satin bows. I think Mattel’s decision to give her shimmering blonde hair is an interesting one, because Snow White’s hair is black. The difference gives Apple White her own identity while still maintaining her family resemblance in other ways. C.A. Cupid has a cute punk style with pink hearts on her cheeks and lips, as well as the upper part of her skirt. She has statuesque wings and cool, gladiator-style boots that tie her back to mom. Blondie Locks is the one who most closely looks like her mom, with her yellow-blonde hair, blue and yellow Victorian-style dress, and gold details on her collar and arm bands. I also like her two pigtail-buns and blunt bangs, which add a fun and modern twist to her look.
