Get ready to explore a whole new world of wonder this fall!

Walt Disney Animation Studios just revealed the first trailer and poster for Strange World, an animated action-adventure starring Jake Gyllenhaal. The family-friendly film is set in a mysterious land, where mystical creatures face a family of explorers known as the Clades. Gyllenhaal will be playing Searcher Clade — the son of a famed explorer whose name is ironic because he isn’t fond of adventures.

In the film, the Clade family must complete a pivotal mission and travel through space and time while encountering strange creatures and action-packed twists and turns. In the new trailer, which is styled like a retro movie reel, fans get a first look at some of these magical, colorful lands.

Strange World is directed by Don Hall, who has worked on titles including Big Hero 6 and Raya and the Last Dragon. Qui Nguyen, co-writer on Raya and the Last Dragon, is returning to co-write the screenplay for Strange World. Additionally, Roy Conli from Big Hero 6 and Tangled is producing the animation.

Strange World features a diverse cast of characters, continuing Disney’s more recent efforts to highlight diversity in animation alongside titles such as Turning Red and Encanto

Strange World will premiere in theaters for Thanksgiving on Nov. 23, so folks can gather (post food coma) with family and friends to see the adventures of the Claude family on the big screen! Check out the teaser trailer below.
